The National Policy Statement for Indigenous Biodiversity (NPSIB) is an essential part of our response to biodiversity decline in Aotearoa. The NPSIB provides direction to councils on how to identify, maintain and protect our indigenous biodiversity.
The NPSIB is intended to provide a framework which allows for the harvesting of plantation forestry, while recognising the impacts (positive and negative) on indigenous biodiversity.
It should be read alongside the general summary and the NPSIB.
